We, the editors of the G+C Blog, are pleased to announce that we will be publishing a peer-reviewed open access journal under the name Le foucaldien, starting in summer 2017. The journal will be hosted by the well-established and internationally recognized Open Library of Humanities (OLH), and will be supported by an editorial board of highly renowned scholars. Le foucaldien will publish substantial research papers as well as shorter essays, reviews, and interviews in English, German, and French.
The journal's title is a program: Le foucaldien aims at research along Foucauldian lines and focuses on historicizing, updating, and operationalizing Foucault's concepts. Papers exploring Foucault's thought and its historical situatedness will be just as welcome as research using Foucauldian methods like archaeology and genealogy, as well as confrontations of Foucault with current approaches in media studies, new materialism, and digital humanities, for example.
Dr. Caroline Edwards, co-founder and Editorial Director of the OLH, said of the launch: "Le foucaldien was launched at the University of Zurich to make Foucauldian scholarship openly available and develop work in this area beyond the bounds of academic disciplines into a number of humanities subject areas. On the foucaultblog, the journal's editors have already been successful in linking up academic research on Michel Foucault with work being done by activists and other practitioners. The journal shares our ethos and mission at OLH to help leading academic research find a wider audience both within, as well as outside of, traditional academia – and open access is the best way to do this."
Le foucaldien is a spin-off from the G+C Blog giving interdisciplinary research along Foucauldian lines the home it deserves: double-blind peer review processes, thorough editing, no author-facing charges, full open accessibility, international academic indexing and referencing, library support, and long-term digital sustainability. The G+C Blog will continue to exist as an open platform for editorials, shorter essays, interventions, and announcements.
We want to thank you – the authors and readers of the G+C Blog – for your great and encouraging support during the last years and hope to have you all on board for our new journey. We are looking forward to an exciting and fruitful publishing experience at the Open Library of Humanities. Le foucaldien will be launched in summer 2017 – so stay tuned!
